Last week I met up with childhood friends and several of their family members--eleven of us in all--and we traveled to Portland, Seaside, and Astoria. Staying at a large rental home near the beach in Seaside was perfect, and the weather was just right--overcast but plenty warm, with surprise moments of sunshine.
Traveling in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark, we posed near the Corps of Discovery's most western point, marked by the statue on the Promenade. Later we visited Ft. Clatsop, Cape Disappointment, and Long Beach, site of the beached whale described in the journals of L&C.
Traveling with small children added a lot of fun to the vacation, as it is always exciting to view new sights through young eyes.
We parted reluctantly, but with hopes of traveling new trails down the road.
