Newest Information About Kim

It has been quite awhile since I have posted updates about my friend. Most of her summer has been spent going to doctor appointments and waiting to have her intestinal surgery scheduled. The last couple of weeks have presented some major hurdles, however.

One thing that has been a problem is the hole in her heart. They determined that should be repaired before the other surgery. While she was waiting, however, she suffered a stroke (she has had these in the past), and was taken by ambulance, first to a local hospital, then over to Seattle. They performed the repair with a procedure similar to angioplasty: Going up through her leg artery.

A week later she returned to Seattle for tests and a scope of her esophogus to see what damage there might be in that part of her digestive tract. While waiting for the results of those tests, she began couging blood the past few days. When I talked with her earlier this evening her husband was driving her to the U of W hospital Emergency Room.

She is so tired of being sick and worrying. Her finances continue to be a major burden. The family is pretty much resigned to the fact they will have to walk away from their home, as they can't make the payments. Every time we talk she mentions how grateful she is to the many people who have helped through the donations. She is worried about her family's needs--back to school clothes and supplies, food, a place to live.

Please keep Kim and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Through the kindness and generosity of so many of you, we have helped them to stay in their house these last 3-4 months. What you have done is powerful. I will continue to deposit any contributions you may wish to send me, as they are definitely needed.

Sincerely,
Gayle
